Whole Wheat Pizza

About recipe

Most pizza dough needs at least an hour to rise. But with this dough, you can have it ready to go in under 10 minutes. Top it with whatever you like and you have a quick and healthy (the more veggies the better!) dinner faster than you could even order pizza delivered.

Ingredients (serves 8)

  • 1 cup water, heated to 110 degrees (very warm, almost too hot for comfort)
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
  • 1 envelope (2 ¼ teaspoons) rapid-rise or instant yeast
  • 2 ¾ cups (345 grams) white whole wheat flour or regular whole wheat flour
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt Toppings of choice such as marinara sauce, cheese, vegetables, etc.

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
  2. Combine water, olive oil, honey/sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let sit for 5 minutes until it starts to foam.
  3. Pulse flour, parmesan cheese and salt in a food processor.
  4. Add water/yeast mixture and run the machine until the dough forms a ball, about 1 minute.
  5. Divide dough in half. To make first pizza, stretch dough into a sheet pan as thin as reasonably possible. Top with sauce, cheese and any other toppings.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes until crisp and browned.
  7. Repeat with second dough. Serve hot!
