Community Servings is pleased to announce that we recently expanded our service area and now provide home-delivered, medically tailored meals to individuals in Fitchburg and Leominster. The expansion is made possible thanks to the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, who named Community Servings as a recipient of their 2014 Neighborhood Builders award. This award allows for the purchase of a new delivery truck and the delivery of 25,000 meals to 75 chronically ill residents in the first two years of service.

“With the Neighborhood Builders funding, we are able to deliver meals to more people in need who would not have been served otherwise,  said David B. Waters, CEO. “We are honored to be recognized by the Neighborhood Builders program and look forward to bringing our made-from-scratch, medically-appropriate meals to clients’ homes in these two underserved communities!”

Since our first delivery to Fitchburg and Leominster in May, we have provided more than 300 meals to 11 individuals, and we are working closely with the HealthAlliance Hospital to reach a greater number individuals in the area who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. We now serve 20 cities and towns in Massachusetts over a 300 square mile service area. As the only program of our kind in New England, we’re proud to address the vital need for nutritious, culturally-appropriate meals for those battling critical illness in Fitchburg and Leominster.
