Blueberry Basil Drink

A garden-fresh, crowd-pleaser with no added sugar! Reducing alcohol consumption is recommended for lowering many health risks. But, swapping out alcohol can often be replaced with overly sugary drinks. This Blueberry Basil Drink has no added sugar and features juice and zest from a lime.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • ½ cup fresh blueberries 
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves 
  • Zest of one lime 
  • Juice of 1 lime (about 1.5 Tbsp) 
  • ½ cup ice cubes 
  • 4 fl oz water (still or sparkling, unsweetened) 

Preparation

  1. Wash the blueberries and basil leaves, and add them to a small bowl.  
  2. Zest and juice the lime into the same bowl. 
  3. Mash the mixture until it forms a pulp. 
  4. Strain the pulp into a glass over ice, mashing pulp against the strainer for more juice. 
  5. Add the water over the top and stir in some of the pulp. Garnish with a basil leaf and enjoy!
