Three New Members Join Community Servings' Board
At its May meeting, Community Servings' Board of Directors elected David S. Ford (left), David Hayter (center) and Jhana Senxian (right) as its three newest members.
Since 2002, David S. Ford has been the Executive Director of the Richard and Susan Smith Family Foundation, which will contribute $12 million to primarily Boston-area non-profit organizations this year. He has worked with the foundation to focus on organizational capacity-building, helping to further support youth development, poverty alleviation, medical research and the reduction of treatment disparities in Boston's poorest neighborhoods.
David values "the mission and product of Community Servings enormously. I believe it to be a first-rate organization, extremely well led, and one that fills a very important vacuum in the lives of very needy people. I aim to help Community Servings achieve its goals."
As Chief Operations Officer at Liberty Mutual Investments, David Hayter oversees all aspects of finance, accounting, operations and systems. He has been involved with the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation for the last five years, participating in fundraising triathlons and biking tours. David currently serves on the boards of the St. John's Hospital Foundation and Aventis Software.
According to David, "I believe in giving back to my community. I enjoy and have experience in governance." His expertise and Community Servings' operations will be an ideal fit.
Jhana Senxian leads the Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Practice at Aberdeen Group and directs Aberdeen's strategic research partnership with the United Nations on private sector involvement in Sustainable Consumption and Production. She is the co-author of the forthcoming book, Green IT for Dummies.
Jhana has volunteered with Community Servings, helping to deliver meals to our clients, and loves "the mission and style of Community Servings as well as its long-standing commitment to populations that have suffered from stigmatization and neglect. Community Servings brings not only support and caring but also dignity and elegance to its clients."
Community Servings is excited to have three new leaders of such stature joining our Board of Directors. As CEO David B. Waters explained, "In these difficult economic times, it is critically important to have the best community leaders focused on the issues of food and nutrition for individuals and families struggling with illness and hunger."
