Job Readiness & Employment Manager
|
Position Summary:
Community Servings - Eastern Massachusetts' free, food and nutrition program for the critically ill - seeks a Full-Time Job Readiness & Employment Manager for its Teaching Kitchen Program. Reporting to the VP of Programs, this position will support and monitor job training program participants and work closely with the Chef Instructor, Executive Chef, and Vice President of Programs to help trainees overcome barriers to employment.
Program Description:
The Teaching Kitchen Program is a free 12 week full-time food service training program for low-income individuals, displaced workers and individuals who have faced barriers. Trainees receive a combination of classroom time, cooking classes, job skills training and job seeking and placement assistance. The trainees also get experience in an active kitchen by helping prepare home delivered meals for the critically ill and their families. |

Position Responsibilites
|
- Case management of the Teaching Kitchen program trainees, up to 45 per year
- Develop ISP's through initial contact with trainees and weekly meetings to review goals
- Coordinate assessment and evaluation of trainees
- Support Teaching Kitchen staff to address issues and concerns in a timely manner
- Provide weekly soft skills workshops as needed and as identified by TK team
- Provide weekly job readiness workshops
- Identify employment opportunities for current trainees and past graduates
- Contact employers to build relationships for future employment opportunities
- Assist trainees and program graduates with job application process
- Serve on Teaching Kitchen Advisory Board
- Identify and develop internship opportunities with area employers
- Secure Memos of Understanding from employers
- Administer intern evaluations and timesheet procedures
- Meet monthly with interns and employer partners
- Meet with trainees and alumni to assist with job search process
- Maintain training program employment statistics

Position Requirements
|
- Prior demonstrated experience providing counseling or coaching to individuals and/or groups, job development and placement experience.
- Experience with low income populations and communities of color, preferred. |
Education
|
- Master's degree in Social Work or BA/BS in human services field with at least 5 years work experience in social services. |
