About Us

Our Mission

Community Servings is a not-for-profit food and nutrition program providing services throughout Massachusetts to individuals and families living with critical and chronic illnesses. We give our clients, their dependent families, and caregivers appealing, nutritious meals, and send the message to those in greatest need that someone cares. Our goals are to help our clients maintain their health and dignity and preserve the integrity of their families through free, culturally appropriate, home-delivered meals, nutrition education, and other community programs.

Community Servings has been awarded a coveted four-star rating for our efficient and effective business model for providing nutrition services to the critically ill by Charity Navigator, America's premier independent charity evaluator.

Our Staff

Carolyn Smyth
Client Services Coordinator A delivery van driver for five years, Carolyn observed first-hand what it means to be sick and home-bound with a critical illness like HIV/AIDS or cancer. Carolyn's skills and personality made her a natural fit for the Client Services Coordinator position that opened up in 2004. Since then, she has stayed in constant contact with our clients -- working out delivery issues, registering new clients, and making sure everyone is well-fed. Prior to joining Community Servings, Carolyn was a medical transcriber and residential counselor.

Barbara Jordan
An ingenious business woman and philanthropist, Barbara bought three of Princess Diana's evening gowns for her Newbury Street boutique and then leveraged them for local charities. Ours raised enough to buy our first building in Roxbury!
